Christopher Grant Hatch, 53, passed away on April 22, 2026, in his home.

Chris was born on February 24, 1973, in DeWitt, Iowa, to Patrick and Margaret Hatch. When he was 10 months old, his family moved from Iowa to San Marcos, California, where Chris grew up and built lifelong friendships. Although he was an only child, Chris remained close with his extended neighborhood family in San Marcos, including many friends and families who became an important part of his life.

Chris worked for 19 years at Bank of America as an Assistant Vice President, Sr. Systems Engineer. Before beginning his career in technology, he served for nearly eight years as a firefighter with the Valley Center Fire Department. His time in the fire service was one of the great loves of his life, and he took deep pride in those years of service. Although he later chose a different career path, he continued to live vicariously through his brothers in the fire service and always held that community close to his heart.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Margaret Hatch. He is survived by his two beloved sons, Aidan Grant Hatch and Declan Thomas Hatch. More than anything, Chris was incredibly proud of his sons and the bright futures ahead of them.

Chris will be remembered for the life he built, the friendships he carried through the years, his pride in serving others and the deep love he had for Aidan and Declan.

A memorial service honoring Chris’s life will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Gilbert Memorial Park in Gilbert, Arizona.
